About Rosanna

Rosanna is a Northern Irish printmaker and illustrator living and working in Edinburgh. She is a self-taught printmaker, having studied History of Art at Edinburgh University, before discovering printmaking in 2020. She mainly works with lino, and occasionally screen and risograph printing. She particularly enjoys the tools and processes of linocut, and the sculptural nature of relief printing.

Her favourite historical printmakers are Edward Bawden and Gertrude Hermes.

She has an illustrative style, and the overarching theme of her work is storytelling. Places and their inhabitants (animal or human) are her main subjects, and she loves creating imagined spaces, alongside character sketches of whimsical figures or creatures. Nature is very important to her, and there are recurring motifs of plants, seaweed, shells and animals. Her artistic life goal is to write and carve a lino cut graphic novel.
